SnowBall Melts at The Modern Mrs. Blog

SnowBall Melts

Today food bloggers all over are uniting to share their Cookie Swap recipes. It was such a fun project hosted by Love & Olive Oil  and The Little Kitchen. Each blogger donated $4 to Cookies for Kids’ Cancer and together we raised over $13k! Pretty awesome, right!? Bloggers all over got busy in their kitchens baking up cookies, mailing them out and now sharing those fabulous recipes…

For my blogging buddies I was matched up with I whipped up some SnowBall Melts. I’ve seen several variations of these and they have a bazillion uniques names; Russian Tea Cakes, Butterballs or Wedding Cookies. Every name makes sense. These cookies are best paired with tea I absolutely agree. These cookies melt in your mouth like a butterball. Finally, yeah I guess they would be great for a Wedding. Well, hmmm. I actually don’t get this last cookie name. So I think most fitting for these cookies are SnowBall Melts; they melt in your mouth, look like cute powdery snowballs and perfect for Christmas Cookie Exchanges.

1/2 cup powder sugar (an additional 1/4 cup powder sugar for rolling)

1 cup butter

2 cups flour; I love 1 cup whole wheat flour and 1 cup all purpose flour

These cookies are soooo super easy!

Preheat oven to 325 degrees.

In a large mixing bowl combine 1/2 cup powder sugar with 1 cup butter. Combine well.

Stir in 2 cups flour. Combine well.

Roll dough into small cookie balls and arrange on baking sheet. Bake in preheated oven for 25 minutes.

In a small bowl pour the additional 1/4 cup powder sugar.

Remove cookies from oven and while still warm roll in powder sugar. Allow to cool.

Serve with a great cup of tea, coffee or mail to a special someone~

SnowBall Melts SnowBall Melts are Best when Served with Tea!

What cookies are you baking up this season? Have you discovered any new favorites?
